506 – Manarola / Sella di Monte Marvede

The 'agricultural vertical' from Manarola towards Volastra and the Alta Via.

A connecting route between the coast and the Cinque Terre ridge, climbing from Manarola up the Groppo stream valley to Sella di Monte Marvede. It passes through vegetable gardens, vineyards, olive groves, Volastra and wooded sections, gradually moving from the maritime landscape to a more agricultural and hillside setting.

It has no particular technical difficulties, but the elevation gain is significant and requires a basic level of fitness.

Good to know

  • Water fountains are available at Piè di Fiesse and in Volastra.
  • Volastra is a good resting point along the route.
  • The first section includes stretches exposed to the sun.
  • Starting in the morning is recommended, especially in summer.
