Moving between the villages

Trains are the fastest and most reliable transport option.

Travel times:

  • La Spezia Centrale ↔ Riomaggiore: 7 minutes
  • La Spezia Centrale ↔ Manarola: 10 minutes.
  • Riomaggiore ↔ Manarola: 3 minutes
  • Queue-saving tip: Buy the Cinque Terre Treno MS Card online! It grants unlimited Levanto-La Spezia rail travel

A scenic option for admiring the villages from the coast. The service connects La Spezia, Portovenere, Levanto and the villages of the Cinque Terre.

  • Please note: the service depends strictly on sea and weather conditions. Verify operating status at the pier before boarding

Useful for reaching the hillside hamlets, sanctuaries or upper parking areas.

  • Key routes: connections to Volastra, Groppo and the Montenero Sanctuary.
  • Note: buses do not connect the villages to each other (for example, there is no direct Riomaggiore-Manarola bus). Tickets can be purchased at the National Park Info Points.

If you are travelling by car: parking and rates

The villages have narrow roads, steep gradients and restricted traffic zones. If possible, leave your car in La Spezia or Levanto.

Please note: many areas in the villages are reserved for residents and fines may apply.

  • Rio Park (upper part of the village): around 60 parking spaces (maximum height 1.95 m). Reservation is not possible. Rates: €3.50/hour | €35/day (payment at automatic machines, cash or card). About 10 minutes on foot from the centre.
  • Zorza car park (along the road between Riomaggiore and Manarola): Rates: €1.00/hour for cars | €2.50/hour for caravans (no camping). From here you can take the shuttle down to the villages.
  • Posella and Acquarino car parks (10-15 minutes on foot from the centre). Reservation is not possible. Rates: €2.50/hour | €20/day. Multi-day passes may be purchased at the automatic payment machines.
